How to Activate Different Layouts for FPK2 GEN2 Clusters

This guide walks you through the steps to activate various layouts for the FPK2 GEN2 clusters in your vehicle. Follow these instructions carefully to make the most of the available features.

Step 1: Check Your Software Version

  1. Navigate to the onboard computer display (where you can view short and long trip fuel consumption).
  2. Hold the left menu button for 10 seconds.

  3. A menu will appear. Select “Version Information” and check if the SW GSS starts with “D_AU651”.
    • Supported versions: 0095, 0111, 0151, 0152, 0153, 0154, 0155, 0157, 0208, 0210, 0211, 0212, 0214, 0216.

Step 2: Prepare the SD Card

  1. Get an empty SD card and format it to FAT32.
  2. Download and extract the contents of D_AU651_0095_0730_prod.zip to the root of the SD card.
    • Ensure the files and folders data and meta are present.

Step 3: Perform the Firmware Update

  1. Insert the SD card into the SD card reader located in the armrest.
  2. Press and hold your fingers on the top-right corner of the screen until the update menu appears.
  3. Select “Update” and wait.
    • Important: The update typically takes 10 minutes but may take up to 1 hour. To prevent battery drainage, keep the engine running during the update.
    • If you see the error message “Cannot start update because BEM level is set to LEVEL 1”, ensure the engine is running during the update.
  4. After completing the first update:
    • Format the SD card again.
    • Extract the contents of 4N0906961BB to the SD card.
    • Insert the SD card into the reader and repeat the update process.
  5. Verify the new software version:
    • Go to the onboard computer display and hold the left menu button for 10 seconds.
    • The new SW GSS version should display as 0216.

Step 4: Adjust Adaptation Values

To modify the settings, you’ll need a diagnostic tool such as VCDS, ODIS, VCP, OBD Eleven, or VC Tool.

  1. Access ECU number 17 and log in using the security code 20103.
  2. Navigate to the adaptation channels and adjust the following values:
    • [VN]_designvariant_activation_gen2:
      • [LN]_variant_1: [VN]_
      • [LN]_variant_2: [VN]_
      • [LN]_variant_3: [VN]_
      • [LN]_variant_4: [VN]_
      • [LN]_variant_5: [VN]_
      • [LN]_variant_6: [VN]_
      • [LN]_variant_7: [VN]_
  3. To avoid the “Basic settings” error in block 17, set the following channel to “Yes”:
    • [LN]lock

Note: You can activate up to three different variants. Keep the [LN]lock channel set to “No” to enable changing the variants at any time. If you want the Basic Setting DTC removed, set it to “Yes”.

Layout Mapping

Below is the mapping of variants to layouts:

  • Variant 1: Klassik (default)
  • Variant 2: S Performance
  • Variant 3: Dynamic
  • Variant 4: Sport
  • Variant 5: RS Performance (available from version 0216)
